Dear Member

Congratulations Sandy & Martin’s
The story of the week has to be Sandy & Martin Bartley’s 60th birthday party held at the club last Friday night (and I emphasize the birthday theme for the benefit of past Captain Chris Reynolds…….enough said hey Renny!!!).

I’m sure you will all want to pass on your own best wishes but on behalf of the club our President Mr Howard Thomas was kind enough to put into words on the night the very high regard we all have for Sandy & Martin and the fantastic job that they do.  Congratulations and three cheers for all of us.

Members are requested that care is taken to ensure divots are replaced and repaired and pitch markers on greens are repaired to ensure that as much as possible good playing conditions are maintained.

Hole in One on the 7th!
Now I am not sure if you noticed the recent story of Tiger Woods making his first hole in one for twenty years recently, well here at Carmarthen I think we can match that!  Last Tuesday our own Delyth Ress made a hole in one on the 7th playing with new member Catrin Griffith-Jones.  Apparently they were the only two mad golfers on the course that day given the inclement weather but nevertheless the feat was recorded and only Sandy was in the bar to toast her success when they got in….oh well it was a cheap round!!  Congratulation to Delyth who only started playing about 18 months ago and since the beginning of this year has managed to reduce her handicap by nine shorts.

Chivalry Lives on!!
I am told that it came as a complete shock that during a recent evening dinner party with friends our 2017 Past Captain Mick Fenney surprised everyone by dropped down on one knee and proposed to his long standing partner and club colleague Sue Convey.  On behalf of the club congratulations and best wishes to you both for this great news of your engagement.

In the Clubhouse last week - the festive season has begun!!

Every week our ladies section run a welcome Wednesday event enabling new and existing members get to know one and other and for the games new starters to gain an understanding of club events.  Last Wednesday the group including some of this year’s 12 new members enjoyed their Christmas lunch at the club….great Christmas jumpers ladies!!

Attending the function were Ann Griffiths, Louise Davies, Jane Lindquist, Jen O’Sullivan, Anne Williams, Delyth Rees, Jen Lewis, Rachel Lewis, Christine Soons, Christine Rees, Enid James, Tracey Dix and Nora Thomas.

Upcoming Juniors Section Fund Raising Event this Friday Tarde Tex-Mex Evening Friday 7th December 2018 Last chance, role up, role up!!  You are again reminded that in support of fundraising to go towards travel and kit expenses for our junior’s forthcoming trip to represent the Club, County and Wales in the National Championships to be held in Portugal early next year the Club has arranged a Mexican themed evening.   Members, guests, non-members are all invited and will have a warm welcome for sure.  It is hoped that you will be able to attend and support this event and when making a booking please would you advise Martin or Sandy of your food choices and any special dietary requirements.

And finally……. To those who have been kind enough to provide stories and pictures to enable this week’s update to be prepared thank you.  If you have anything that you would like to share please forward these to my email address (fred_bryncerrig@outlook.com) and I will do my best for them to be included.   Thanks for reading.
