On Friday 7th December 44 members and guests attended the Tarde Tex-Mex evening as a fundraising event to send our juniors to Morgado.

Guest were welcomed by a selection of the juniors with Salsa and Chips and the juniors also helped the catering team with meal service and did a great job.  Catrina Thomas and her band of helpers sold raffle tickets, arranged the Evans Skit and a Mexican themed quiz.

The event was organised by Stewart Evans and wife Jan who on the night went by the names of El Bandito and Consuela!!  The highlight of the evening was them performing their version of the Mexican smooth……yes that is them, see picture.  A huge thank you to them both from the junior section for their superb efforts.

The pick of the raffle prizes was won by Cliff Webb who was very pleased with his Penderyn Whiskey Julia Webb and her team beat Tracy Waring and tea to win the quiz on a tie break killer question and got to enjoy the Champagne prize.

Sandy and Martin did a fantastic job with the Mexican food and the evening raised £454.00 for the Marchog to Morgado fund.

Thank you to everyone who attended ensuring that our juniors have every opportunity in January 2019 in Portugal representing the club and of course Wales.

Recognition for our Girls…. The club is extremely proud to have received news from Carmarthenshire & Pembrokeshire Ladies County Golf Association that two of our young players have achieved recognition in their list of Girls Most Improved Players.  Congratulations go out to Kasumi Tran for coming 4th and to Megan Thomas who came 5th.

Out on the course……
As last week’s wet weather relented, last Monday, all greens were in play and our green staff team (Andrew, John and Sam) were busy aerating and ironing the greens, see picture

Over the next few weeks the team will be carrying out necessary tree maintenance, this will include removing low growing branches to ease mowing and speed of play.  The team will also trim the tree areas around tees and greens to increase air flow and allow direct sunlight to reach these areas to help them dry out quicker after wet periods.  The objective is to improve the quality of the playing surfaces and minimise the use of temporary greens whenever practicable.

The team would like to thank members for their patience and apologise for any inconvenience caused.

In the Club….
The Entertainments Group would like to remind members that tickets are available for our New Year's Eve Party.  Members, guests and friends are all welcome.
